Data Poverty APPG renamed to Digital Inclusion APPG – Julie Elliott MP elected new Co-Chair

Following an Extraordinary General Meeting, members of the Data Poverty APPG have voted to rebrand as the Digital Inclusion APPG.

The EGM also saw Labour member for Sunderland Central, Julie Elliot MP, join Matt Warman MP as a Co-Chair of the Group.

The name change to Digital Inclusion APPG comes as the group expands its remit to focus on wider aspects of the digital divide, including devices, skills, will and access. This refreshed focus comes at a time when the cost-of-living crisis continues to exacerbate digital poverty across the UK.

The APPG is also delighted to welcome Julie Elliott MP as a Co-Chair, replacing Darren Jones MP who joins Labour’s frontbench as Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury. Julie has been an Officer of the APPG since its inception in 2021, and has served on the Culture, Media and Sport Committee (formerly the DCMS Committee) since 2020.
